How do I move an existing Blog into an entirely new WordPress account

    I have started developing for a friend a basic Blog. It has its own purchased domain name and WordPress has been paid the correct fee for hosting that URL..

    My friend is now setting his own WordPress account up and I would like to transfer the Blog as its stands (very simple one page) with its domain name to his WordPress account so it is not longer in mine. That will then enable him to edit it and manage it directly.

    I can see some of the steps in the support pages, but am not clear if this applies to the complete transfer of a Blog from one account to another. Probably me not reading it correctly, but I would be very grateful for a bit of sign posting!

    The procedure described on applies a “complete” transfer of the kind I think you have in mind :)

    Thank you Hanni but it has not worked totally.

    The new account has been set up by my friend which is inspiredbyventnor.wordpress.com

    I created an XML file for the original very minimal content which is still in development. That trasfer worked perfectly

    However, I cannot work out how transfer the original URL which is ventnor2020.wordpress.com from my own account. (markch2008.wordpress.com)

    Although the support article says if I put my mouse over the Blog title it will show a transfer Blog option. It does not appear to do this and there does not appear to be any internal options that allow me to do this.

    There are two things that need to happen, that I cannot figure out.

    To transfer the original Blog name across. Also the Blog URL has a domain name attached to it which we paid WordPress an upgrade for which is ventnor2020.com.

    The domain name needs to be the external name for ventnor2020.wordpress.com.

    Hope all this makes sense, and I am very grateful for your help. Sadly the support article you pointed me to, does not appear to work.

    The domain name is the hold-up. The domain will need to be transferred to the new user first.

    Please contact us via support@wordpress.com using the email address that purchased the domain and let us know who you want the domain transfered to.
