How do I move paragraph blocks closer together?
-
I’m just starting with the new blocks editor–I’m doing a simple promo site for an academic friend, who needs it to look professional but not complicated–lots of text with a couple of pictures. I’ve used WP in the past, but I’m rusty and the block editor is new to me.
It seems like if I want to start a new paragraph and hit the ‘return’ button I get a new block to write in, when all I want is for my cursor to start on a new line. Each paragraph block is inordinately far from the previous one.
How do I simply create a new paragraph (as I’m doing as I write this question) without starting a new block, OR click on a block and drag it a few mm closer to the previous one? The up/down button pushes para 2 above para 1, which is not what I want.
I did a bit of looking online and saw that moving blocks together involves ‘CSS’–I don’t know what this is or how to use it.
Thank you!

Hi there!
If you want to keep writing in the same block but in a new line press Shift and then hit Enter.
Every new block will keep the same space between the previous one and you won’t be able to change it. You can move the blocks towards the top or bottom of the page but you won’t be able to modify the space between them.
Here’s more information about the editor:
