When people click on https://skcustomersupport.wordpress.com
I want them to see the contents of https://skcustomersupport.wordpress.com/portfolio
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. First, create a new page. If you already have a portfolio page, skip to the last paragraph.
If your theme has an option for the portfolio page template, select that template and publish the page without any content. (As your page is private I can’t see what theme you’re using, so you’ll need to check for this yourself.)
If your theme doesn’t have that option, then you need to add the portfolio shortcode to that page and publish the page. Instructions for the shortcode here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/
If you have posts as well that you want to display on another area of the site, create another new page and publish it without any content.
After you publish that page, go to either the Customizer, or Settings ->Reading and set the portfolio page as your home page and the blog page as your posts page. https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

Hi I did this
[portfolio display_types=true display_tags=true columns=3 showposts=10 orderby=title]but it completely messed up the portfolio design i have with the theme ‘argent’
Otherwise I don’t have an option of embedding the portfolio projects in that new page that is then the front page

Thanks for the name of your theme. That helps a lot.
Argent has a front page template that should automatically display your projects. If you’ve added the shortcode to a page using that template, it will mess it up.
You need to decide if you want your front page to display only the projects, or if you want your theme’s special front page. Open that page in the editor.
If you want only the projects to display, make sure the page template is set to default, and leave the shortcode in place. Update the page.
If you want to use the front page template, make sure you have the template selected under page attributes. Then delete the shortcode. If you want other content on that page besides your projects, add it and update the page.
Next, click on Customize in the dashboard. Click on Theme Options and select to display the portfolio projects. Click Save and Publish, and now your page should display correctly. See your theme’s support doc for more information: https://wordpress.com/themes/argent/
You will see your theme also have other options for displaying portfolio content: if you add the link for your portfolio archive to a custom menu it will display your projects without the need for a separate page, but you won’t be able to use it as your front page.
Let me know if you need more help with this.
