How do I organize posts

Hi everybody. I have begun the much-needed task of collecting all of Sylvia Plath’s poetry in on one site. I am posted it by the year it was written. And I would like for everything to be posted in that order. The problem is that it’s not showing up in that order in the sidebar. For example: for the year 1956, the proper order is: Conversation Among The Ruins, Winter Lanscape, Pursuit, Bucolics. But it’s showing up in alphabetical order, which is wrong. If there is a way for me to fix this problem, please let me know. Thank you very much.

The Archives widget will display them in order. Or you can create a text widget and put them in any order you want.

I don’t understand. I already have the archives widget, I’m pretty sure. Don’t all blogs have that? They are currently being displayed in alphabetical order on my sidebar, but I want them to be displayed in the order they were written.

Alright, I just checked and they are listed in the categories sidebar menu. I really need step-by-step advice on what I have to do.

What is the URL to the site? The one linked to your name doesn’t seem to be the site you are talking about. Please start with http:// so it is a clickable link.
You couls use a text widget and place the links to pages in your desired order, as Raincoaster suggested.

I also have used a links widget in the sidebar, numbering the links to get the order I wanted.

The Recent Posts widget displays them in chronological order. The Category widget lists them in alphabetical order of categories. Why don’t you just do a text widget, a blank widget, and put them in whatever order you like? The easiest way to write a text widget (which has to be input as code) is to write a Draft Post containing everything you want and format it using the visual editor and then when it is just how you want, click to the HTML editor and copy all the code. Paste that code in your text widget, add a title, and put it in the sidebar.

I’m posting the poetry by year: 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959. For each year, there are a lot of poems. If I have to do it using the text widget as raincoaster suggested, should I use four separate widgets, one for each year?

Alright, now I think I understand whay you’re saying about the text widget, raincoaster. It makes sense to write the entire thing in a draft post, too. This will end up being a very long list, hundreds of different poems. What effect would that have? And I have a question for both raincoaster and teamoyeniyi (and anybody else who might read this): If you were me, what would you do? Am I being too picky and OCD?

No, just use one and make headings and sub-headings and links. It’s easy with the method I described.

OK. You have recent posts, archives and categories. All display in default orders. Given what you want to do, I suggest you remove all those widgets as the confuse the order you want to achieve and either use a links widget with your own defined links or use a text widget.

Have a llok at my site. I use a text widget with a link to a page but I could put 10 if I wanted.
I also use a links widget to link to the back story.
