How do I password a single page that is part of my blog?
-
Page assigned a password did not ask for it. Using 2012 style. The page is a frontpage w/o sidebar. I setup the access parameter for the page and gave it a password, published the page, tried it out and it didn’t ask for a password. ???????
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, and please don’t use so many question marks: it makes you look a bit hysterical. If you wish to go hysterical on me, you’re going to have to pay me for my time instead of waiting for a volunteer to get back to you.
I suggest that the issue probably comes down to the fact that since it is the opening page of the site, the direct link bypasses the password procedure. If you want it truly private, set the blog as a whole to private. If you want just that page private, make the site open on a different page and see if that fixes the issue. If it does not, report back.

Is this the page you set a password for?

if it isn’t then what is the title of the page you set the password for please? -
Hi raincaster,
That was a quick response. I’ll stick to one “?” in the future. :-)
The site has three pages. The first two are public. The third page is now private because I haven’t resolved how to password it yet. Before I set it to private, I tried to get the password to work for the third page. In edit mode for the third page, I set the visibility to Password, typed in the password and updated. When I go to view it later, it requires no password. The title of the third page is Videos.
Thank you,

George,
Please understand that we need URLs or page titles.
Without them we are spinning our wheels, wasting your time and ours and unable to help you at all.Is this the page you set a password for?

The URL of the page in question is http://ekforsen.wordpress.com/listing-of-remembrance-videos/
I just made it public temporarily. -
OKay now make it password protected. They log out and reboot completely so your browser cache and cookies are clear. Then without logging in view the site as a visitor would. Lastly log in again and tell us if that worked or not.

It is password-protected now. If you go straight to the page without entering the password, it simply means that WP.com can tell that your computer has put the password in and received the “cookie” that allows it to view the page.

Thank you both..
I didn’t realize that WP was getting a cookie with the password. If I check it out I’d have to login as a different user.
Thanks again,

Or simply do as I said. Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies and without logging in view the blog as if you are a visitor. :)

Hi again,
I looked at all the cookies (too many) and deleted the one(s) associated with WP. That did the trick.
Thanks again.
