How do I paste tables from Word (or Open Office Writer)?
-
Why is WordPress no longer allowing me to paste tables from Word (or Open Office Writer) documents? In my post Major African Stock Index and Exchange Rate Changes in Q2-2014 dated Apr 18 2014 I pasted the table and text from a Word document and it even kept my preferred font. I tried to do the same today and the table content appeared without the table, and the rest of the text was in WordPress’ default font (if you can, see my draft Major African Stock Market and Exchange Rate Changes in Q2-2014 dated Sept 15 2014) What as changed? I can copy the earlier post but I have to type in the text which is time consuming.

Hi,
In your Dashboard, go to Posts. Either Add New or edit an existing post. In your editor, make sure you are using the Visual tab, not the Text tab so that when you copy and paste, it will preserve your table.
Please see this document for more information:

That’s exactly what I did. I just tried it in Chrome instead of Firefox the table worked. Still at the default font instead of my own but at least I have the table. Apparently it’s all about the browser.

Yes, sometimes using a different browser or upgrading to the latest version works because of browser or caching issues.
For the font, what font were you trying to use? Only some fonts are supported and some previously supported fonts might not be supported anymore.

I originally used Century Gothic which no one seems to support anymore. Most of my documents are now in Verdana or Calibri. I currently used the free version of WordPress which does not have any font selection options that I can find so unless I paste it in, I have to settle for the default font.

Hi!
I tested out the three fonts you mentioned and they should all work.
This code is for Verdana:

Replace this text.
this is Calibri:

Replace this text.
and this is Century Gothic:

Replace this text.
(Just replace the text “Replace this text” with the text or table that you want.)
Let me know if that helps!

Oh, by the way, to add these codes to your post, you need to switch to the Text tab of your editor.
