How do I pay for our Premium Plan

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I am trying to pay our subscription for the Premium Plan but it keeps saying ‘You need to be the plan owner to manage this site.’ The person who set up the account is no longer with the business, so how do we pay the subscription?

    Kind Regards,
    Frank

    Hello!

What is the site address you’re referring to? Do you have access to the email address used to create the account?

Thanks for replying. I actually don’t know which email address was used to set up the account – where would I find this out?

    Hi,

Your only option is to click the little menu in the bottom right corner of the site, try logging in, click ‘Lost your password’, and enter the email that person may have used. Short of that, you will need to contact that person.

I hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

  • Hi there,

The Premium Plan on your site belongs to the username, jonathanpeacock1. You’ll either need to log in as that username, or wait until the plan expires at which point you can re-purchase the plan from your own account.

Or if you can contact that user and ask them to post here to confirm, I can transfer the plan to your account and link it up with your domain mapping so you can renew it.

    Hi Kokkieh,

We have removed that user from our account unfortunately. I just tried to recreate the user again, but it won’t allow me to do that. I have access to the email account of (email visible only to moderators and staff) so you can send a confirmation there if you like and I can respond to say its okay to transfer the plan to my account – will that work?

    Kind Regards,
    Frank

    Hi Kokkieh,

I just saw in my comment above that the email address was redacted, so to follow up I have access to the email account for jonathanpeacock1

    Kind Regards,
    Frank

  • The email you provided is not the email address connected to that account. If it were, you’d be able to use it to reset the password and log in as that user to request transfer of the plan.

I saw the user has been removed from the site, but they are still the owner of a paid upgrade on WordPress.com, and I cannot remove that upgrade from their account without their permission while it is still active.

    Hi Kokkieh,

Oh okay, I was guessing that this was the format because all the other emails were in that format. How can I find out what email address was linked to the jonathanpeacock1 account then? I can’t see this in the users section anywhere? Are you able to email it to my user email for franklia2015 ? (Since it is attached to the same account)

    Kind Regards,
    Frank

  • I cannot give you the email address connected to another username account under any circumstances. It doesn’t matter if the email was, for example, @ the same domain as yours, nor does it matter if the person is/was a user on your site. The email address connected to a WordPress.com account is private information that we do not disclose to anyone else but the verified owner of the particular account.

    Hi Kokkieh,

I understand. Lets strip the problem back to the core. I want to pay wordpress.com $99 to ensure we keep our premium subscription. Given our previous conversations, how can I best pay you this money?

Surely any business can facilitate the payment of an account, especially such a capable Happiness Engineer like yourself. It would make me very happy to pay you this money, and I suspect it would make your boss very happy for me to pay you this money. Please let me know how I can pay WordPress.com.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Frank

  • I can send you a link to make a manual payment, but then the plan will still belong to the other user, only that user will have the ability to add a domain or sign up for WordAds or contact paid support, and should they at any time contact us to help cancel that upgrade we’ll have to comply, the plan will stop working on your site, and you won’t get any refund. And come next year’s renewal you will be in the same situation of being unable to renew the upgrade, because it still belongs to someone else.

If you cannot contact the current owner of the plan, the best course of action remains my original suggestion of waiting for the plan to expire, so you can add a new plan using your own account. Then you’ll have full control of the plan going forward and won’t have this problem again.
