How do I permanently remove a pdf file link from WordPress?

Hello, I want to permanently remove/delete a pdf file link so that it does not come up on the internet at all. I’ve deleted the actual file from my WordPress blog, made the blog private, and I’ve also requested & removed the link from Google, but when I click on the link, the link is still visible and allows people to download as a pdf file. I do not want people to download it through the wordpress link.

Is there any way that you can permanently delete the pdf file and/or the link from WordPress so that it doesn’t come up at all? Will I need to delete the whole blog? The link has the word ‘files.wordpress.com’ and ends with ‘pdf’ at the end, so I’m wondering if it’s something that can be done on your end. The link is https://keppelflag1st.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/shortereaderpetsatthevet.pdf.

Please help! Thank you so much!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you have permanently deleted the file by emptying it from your site’s Trash folder, it will take a few more days before it is permanently gone from the deleted items cache. Regardless I’ve tagged this for Staff to ensure that the file is totally removed sooner.

Just note that making your site Private cuts off access for all but logged in members of your site. So when I click on that link, I get an access denied notice, nor do I find it in Google’s cache.

  • I’m getting a 404 error for that file. So it is well and truly deleted.
