How do I permanently remove a pdf file link from WordPress?
-
Hello, I want to permanently remove/delete a pdf file link so that it does not come up on the internet at all. I’ve deleted the actual file from my WordPress blog but when I click on the link, the link is still visible and allows people to download as a pdf file. I do not want people to download it through the wordpress link.
Is there any way that you can permanently delete the pdf file and/or the link from WordPress so that it doesn’t come up at all?
The link has the word ‘files.wordpress.com’ and ends with ‘pdf’ at the end, so I’m wondering if it’s something that can be done on your end. The link isClick to access cv-oscar_aguado.pdf
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The link https://aniho2012.files.wordpress.com/2018/01/cv-oscar_aguado.pdf gives me a “404-error – File not found”.

Really? The link is still visible and allows people to download, I can do it and also friends of me in other PCs

When you say the link is still available, where is it available? I can see that the file link comes up if I search on “Oscar Aguada CV” in Google, and you can still view a cached copy of the file on Google. Is that what you’re talking about? You’ve deleted the file itself, which is really all that can be done from the WordPress.com side of things. If this Google result is the link you’re referring to, you can request it be removed from the Google search index at by following the instructions at https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/6349986.
If that’s not where you’re seeing the link, it would help to know specifically where you’re seeing it.
