How do I place an image in a theme layout containing an image box?

  I have selected the Columnist Theme and there is a grey picture rectangle in the upper left hand corner of the screen where I would like to place an image from my media library. How do I do that?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You can change that by adding a custom header image as described here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/
