how do I point my name servers to a different location?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi!
I have tried to follow the instructions on how to get to change name servers but when I go to the domains info section it only comes up with ‘custom DNS’. I think I need domain administration but I can’t find that in my dash board. I just want to change my name servers which looks really simple in the instructions but I can’t find the place on our blog to do these. I don’t know how to Custom DNS as I am not good at computer language. So I was wondering if you would be able to help me please! How do I get to domain administration so I can point my name servers to a different location?

Or would you please walk me through how to custom the DNS if that is what I have to do? At the moment my options are to edit the DNS only.

Thanks so much for your time, I look forward to hearing from you.
    Kind Regards
    Eloisa

You need to be logged in as the owner of that blog (brockmb), only the person who purchased the domain can make such changes.

You can point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), with these steps: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

I hope this helps – let me know if you have any more questions!
