How do I post a Url to LinkedIn?

  Received advice from a LinkedIn user that advises me to type my Url into the search box,
  highlight it, right click, choose cut. Put cursor where you want the Url, then select paste.
  The result is not highlighted, and does not connect. What am I doing wrong?
