Audio players by Word Press and Sound Cloud are not at all accessible for blind people using screen readers. I am a blind writer/musician and working on promoting a book which will help raise funding for a project of the nonprofit National Federation of the Blind to educate college students majoring in fields such as education and healthcare about blindness issues. Even teachers of the visually impaired rarely even meet a blind person until they’re working with one.

I would like to use the Word Press platform, but I can’t access the player myself, and so far, I have mostly blind fans, so this is an issue. In the past year, I have written several times to support, and the last time(a couple of months ago), I was told that she would check into it, but there hasn’t been any response. I’d like to purchase the domain through Word Press, but I’m reluctant to do so without some resolution of this issue.

Making websites and software accessible isn’t like putting in an elevator; it’s a matter of adding a few “1s and 0s.” Why is it so often the case that this is too much to ask?
