How do I prevent unsuitable (porn) ads appearing on blogs?

  • Unknown's avatar

‘m head of ICT at a large primary school and we have about 30+ blogs. We’ve had complaints from visitors that porn adverts are appearing. I realise that to stop adverts completely we need to upgrade the blogs to premium, however this close to the end of the academic year I don’t want to do that, as we’ll start a fresh batch of blogs in September.
Is there a setting I can select that prevents unsuitable adverts from appearing? Or are the adverts that appear dependent on the person looking at the blog – ie are they targeted adverts and dependent on the viewers security settings?

    Thanks!

That’s not correct. You can purchase an individual No-Ads upgrade for the blog and renew it annually as I do for my blogs. That’s the only way you can eliminate ads. There is no way to picky choosy which ads are displayed on your blog.

    P.S. See: http://edublogs.org

Edublogs lets you easily create & manage student & teacher blogs, quickly customize designs and include videos, photos & podcasts – it’s safe, easy and secure. The site runs on the same WordPress multiuser software we do here. However, the site is specifically set up for teachers and students. All edublogs are are advertising free, whereas our blogs here at WordPress.com are not ad-free, unless we buy an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.
