How do I prevent unwanted tags from appearing after publishing a post?

<div> tags appear in my HTML after I publish a post. These <div> tags are not there when I Save Draft or Preview, but as soon as I publish, my fonts look wrong. I open the editor in HTML view and see several <div> tags that I did not put in there. I delete them manually and republish and the fonts look fine. Deleting <div> tags manually takes time I do not have. If there is any way to prevent the tags from appearing in the first place, I would like to know. Thank you.

    Hi there,

Those tags can appear for a variety of reasons, mainly when you’re adding elements or pasting content. Can you let me know a bit about how you’re writing your posts? Are you writing strictly in the WordPress.com editor or are you pasting content from other sources?

    Hi Jeremey,

I’m usually writing directly in the WordPress editor. When I paste from other sources, I use the “paste as text” option. I don’t use any customizations or get into the CSS. I’m mostly just posting text and images. Very simple personal blog. :)

I’m using Chrome (v33.0.1750.146 m) on Windows 7, if that helps any.

    Thanks!

    Hi!

Can you give me an example of a post where this last happened? I’d like to check out the revision history of the post and see where the tags popped up. Based on the process you described, you shouldn’t be seeing any miscellaneous tags pop up.
