How do I publish

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m brand new to blogging. I can’t figure out what to do after I type up my new post…how do I get it to actually appear on the page?

I guess you already figured it out because I see posts on your blog. Unless you mean something else.

There are posts there, but not from me. :( I’m trying to post one called Thoughts on a Common Comment. If you see it, please tell me where!

On the editor I use, it looks like this and click where it says Publish:

Thank you. Grr! I have “Save and Continue to Edit” and “Save” but not the “Publish” button next to them…does this mean something is not working, or is it still ME? What now?

I just changed to the visual rich editor just in case you’re using that editor but the publish button is there too. The only thing I can think of is that you’re not an administrator and don’t have permission to post. Unless it’s WordPress related, then send in a feedback.

Sometimes the Publish button goes poof if the computer believes it’s already been published. Check in another window to see if it’s on your blog already. And did you change the timestamp? Because if you set it to publish in the future that would totally account for this.

Have you tried force clearing your browser?
On windows – ctrl F5 in IE & FF
On macs – Cmd-Shift-R in FF

I’m not sure what force clearing is, but I did ctrl F5 while I was on the “manage” page. I’ve looked all over the blog and can’t find it posted, EXCEPT for when I go to “manage” then “posts” I see the title of the entry. What does this mean?! I still have no publish button.

Oh! I should add that in the “when” column, it says 1970-01-01 12:00:00am. This tells me it hasn’t been published/posted yet, correct? Also, I notified my partner who set up the blog and she said she changed my status, but everything looks the same to me.

The poster is not high enough status. You see this when they mention that they have the other two buttons but not the publish button.

Just for reference, here’s the list of role levels here at wp.com. You mention that your status has been changed. Do you know what status you are? You have to be at least an Author to self publish.

    Hope this helps,
