how do i publish my webpage?

I have created my pages, background, etc. and I can’t figure out how to make the webpage appear on line (katemclean.wordpress.com). It seems that my background and profile picture are separate from the pages I have created?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

On the dashboard Posts page, how many posts are listed, what are their titles, and what does it show as their status (published, private, draft, etc)? Same for the dashboard Pages page.
Have you received the email confirmation from WordPress.com and clicked the link to confirm your account? Your work will not be public until you have done so; check your spam folder in email if you don’t see it yet.

I did get the confirmation and responded. I have pages (about, etc.) that all say published. No posts – I am just trying to get informational pages up.
Any other ideas?

I think I made a mistake with the custom theme, I can’t seem to make it do what I want, any suggestions?

I suggest you do a search of the forum and if you can’t find the answer, you start your own thread rather than hijack this one with your unrelated issue.
@kate as I said On the dashboard Pages page, how many pages are listed, what are their titles, and what does it show as their status (published, private, draft, etc)? When you click View, what happens and what is the link to each of them?

There are 5 pages – “About” “Personnel and Contact Information” “Recent and Forthcoming Publications” “Research” “Courses.”
All say “published.”
When I click view, it shows them with the background I have on the main page that has nothing on it ((email visible only to moderators and staff)
