How do I purchase a website without making my personal information public?

    Hi there, I would like to purchase my own WordPress website, but I hate the idea of my information being out in the wild due to a Whois lookup. Can anyone tell me how to have a WordPress website that avoids giving out personal information?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

    If that isn’t sufficient for you then don’t buy a domain/plan. Just create a (albeit more limited) free site.

    Hi @nouveauomnibean, I can also vouch for the whois data privacy protection for most domains. There are a few domains that require contact information to be exposed, and those are listed in the document @themagicrobot shared.

    The protection will list contact info for a proxy instead of sharing your info, and that starts with registration, so the bots and other tricksters don’t get a peek at your contact info.

    Also, I wanted to note that to host the site here with us, you’ll also want a hosting plan, even if it’s just the Personal option. This also removes ads, provides extra space, and gives you access to direct support:
