How do I put my blog "under construction" until the basic content is ready?

  My self hosted blog is up and running now but is there a way to hide it from public viewing until I can write in the preliminary content and add basic widgets? I know that you can write draft posts and wait to publish but I don’t want people to end up on the blog while it is under construction and see a boring blank page. Is this something I do from my web hosting service?

  If you want to temporarily hide your blog, please use privacy option so only you and logged-in members of the blog can view it.
