How do I put the archives widget on a page?

How do I put the archives widget on a page? I have too many posts to have archives in my sidebar (which in this theme The Columnist, is at the bottom of the page on posts only, not on the home page).
I would like to place it on a page that is easily accessible on the home page (ditto with the search widget).
Any help would be appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can only place widgets in the available widget areas that are provided by your theme. The theme you are using, has four widget areas that only display at the bottom of pages and posts, not the home page.
You could, if you like, create a static home page (create a “Welcome” or “Landing” page, that you would set as your home page in Settings > Reading), which would display the widgets. However, your blog post listing would now be on a separate page.
Other than that, I’d suggest finding a theme that has a widget area on the home page.

If your theme supports sidebar
Once go to your Dashboard->pages->edit any page, on the right side by name page attributes select one by one template and verify for any template sidebar is there or not(By seeing name you will came to know whether sidebar is available or not for that template) .
If you have sidebar then select that template and go to appearence->widgets add which widgets you want to sidebar.
