How do i quickly migrate to a new wordpress.com name???

    How do I migrate across to a new wordpress name. I have setup both the wordpress.comblog sites but would like to consolidate and move all my content across to the newer site. Is this possible and easy? Or is there a way to merely change my wordpress address across to another address?

    I need to do this quite quickly if its possible.

    Thanks Liz. I started the process and got heart palpitations. So as I understand it from going thro the link info you sent me…. Since both xxxx.Wordpress.com accounts are authored by me, I will be saying goodbye to my current active one for good and all my content etc will then be moved across the my other xxxx.wordpress.com domain?
    Will all my formatting and my chosen theme remain intact??

    So nervous that I will click transfer and everything will go haywire😫

    Transferring a .wordpress.com site from one account to another will not affect the site at all – this is only a behind the scenes change. Everything on the site will remain as is, the theme, the content, etc…

    Can you tell me the site address that you are looking to transfer?

    Transferring ownership of the site will not close the original account either, it will still be active, the site will not be there, but you could still sign in and create a new site with those credentials. Does that make sense? Please reply with any follow ups, I’m happy to help.

    Ok so my current site is called twobehold.wordpress.com and I am wanting to move everything (content, formatting, theme etc as is) across to everydayiswritten.wordpress.com.

    I started a second blog thinking it would serve a slightly different purpose but I actually just want to consolidate to one. I have a small amount of content on the everydayiswritten blog but I don’t need that to remain there….. so I basically just need my entire “twobehold” site to be renamed “everydayiswritten…”

    I see that there is an option to ‘transfer’ and also to ‘change the site address name’ – the second option sounds easier but I’m assuming theres a reason that I should transfer instead of merely changing the name?

    Also is the fact that I have some content on the site address (everydayiswritten), a problem? Will it be overridden with all my current content that has moved across?

    Sorry for all the questions.

    Hi –

    Thank you for the update. You can keep both site addresses but only have 1 be active. This seems more inline with what you want to do.

    You can export the content of the old site to the new one: https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/#changing-your-blog-address-to-one-you-already-own

    Then you will set up the theme and complete an import of that file with all the content on to the new site.

    Does that sound more like what you want to do?

    The last step would be to set the old site to private, hiding it from the public and search engines. You (and staff) will still see it on the account but it is otherwise hidden and you can hold on to it in case you decide to use it again in the future. Site deletion is permanent, so if it is deleted we can’t restore it.
