How do I re-register a domain name?

I recently deleted my blog (Stupid move) and now when I go to register the same domain it shows not available. However when I enter the sites url that also shows a message this site has been deleted. So why can’t I register it again?

Unfortunately, that blog can’t be recovered. It’s the policy of WordPress.com not to allow blog names to be reused once deleted: https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
You might try creating a new blog using a variation of the original name.
