How do I rearrange the order in which my pages appear?
-
I cannot seem to figure out where in the dashboard lies the capability to rearrange the order of my pages as they appear on the blog. Can someone help me out with this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here – or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know. We cannot help you without that.

Hi…I want to change the order of the pages as they appear in links at the top…
-
Page editor > Attributes module > assign a number in the Order box. Don’t forget to click Update Page afterwards.
But in my opinion those overlong page titles aren’t very neat or very helpful. I would do the opposite: make your “Welcome” a page, turn it into a static front, and turn the sample pages into posts. Or else keep them as pages but turn them into child pages to a “Samples” parent page, and add the Pages widget for your sidebar: the header displays parent pages only, but the sidebar widget will display all pages, the one under the other. If you do that, then click the Page widget’s “Edit” tab and select the “Sort by page order” option to get the order specified by the numbers you will have set (click Save Changes afterwards).

Thanks. I have working in WP for all of 26 hours. So, a lot of you language is a little foreign to me. But, I will keep plugging away and trying to figure it out.

You’re welcome. First try searching the FAQs for the unfamiliar terms; we’ll be here for any further help you might need.

Do I need to redo all of my pages as posts or can I transfer them over to being posts with a few clicks?
-
Actually, I now have that figured out. How do I make the Welcome page into a static front?
-
Under Settings you can set a static page as your opening page; there’s a drop-down menu to choose which static page you want to be the landing page.

raincoaster, thanks for your reply.
But boy, all I see under setting is Reading, Writing, Discussion, Media, Privacy, OpenID, etc. I cannot find that drop-down menu that you mention….
Try to help me out if you can….

Thanks, rc. Got it!
Now, how can I put those links/articles on the right into the categories/sections I created below? Is that possible?

Only by turning the pages into posts and assigning each one to the proper category. Pages cannot be categorized. Note that you must only add the Categories widget once (because unfortunately it displays all categories – you can’t break it into sections), and that “Business”, “Sports” etc. have to be actual categories you create, not titles in the Wategories widget.
An altogether different approach would be writing a list of links to those pages (or posts) in your static front page itself, below the intro.
And another suggestion: I think in your front it would be better to have the comments deactivated. You can add a contact form instead (see the FAQ on that).
