How do I recover all that I'd just written before the site timed me out

I lost my entire entry… my first ever. when I went to hit post the site kicked me off and poof.. all gone. I spent a lot of time selecting this site and chose it because of top ten lists I found through google. Is having to write a blog entry in a certain time frame going to be a problem? Please help me!

If you open the post again, at the very top it should say something about AUTOSAVE, if you see it, click on it and it should have a copy since last auto save.
If not, I don’t think there’s a way. The time out you mentioned, happens usually due to your internet connection and not wordpress.com.
Just like in Microsoft word, you can make a habbit of always holding “CTRL” & pressing “S” to save the document, it will save it but wont publish it.

You might be able to just use teh back arrow to get back to your post.
Don’t use the prominent New Post button on the grey admin bar; it seems to have a bug where it doesn’t autosave.

ahhhh.. I found the drafts button.. It think I need to spend a little time familiarizing myself with this site so I won’t cause any unnecessary embarrassment!!! Thanks everyone for helping!
