How do I recover my website?
-
Hi, I disconnected my domain from my website (which was built on a theme) and the website I made was still on WordPress but not live on the Internet. A few months later I have logged on to see that the website is no longer on WordPress, is it possible to recover the site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi couponchimp,
What is the domain you are trying to recover?
If you’d like to reclaim a domain that you’ve lost, you can follow the steps as laid out in this article:
Let me know if I can provide any further help here!

Howdy there.
Yep, we’re going to need more information on this if it wasn’t specifically the domain itself you were trying to recover.
By the sounds of it, you’re trying to find a website instead of the domain on your account that is currently using back to using the default wordpress.com domain.
You mentioned http://coupon985.wordpress.com/ was the site you were posting this in regards to, but that one looks like it’s up and running.
Can you confirm which site on your account it had been hosted on?
There may also be a chance that it is still on your account but just hidden from your dashboard. You can find a list of all your sites (hidden and visible) on this part of your dashboard:
https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs
Though, if the site was deleted fully following this guide, it will not be recoverable unfortunately:

Hi, Thanks for the replies Donalirl and Richard. My website doesn’t appear on the dashboard, it was connected to the couponchimp.co.uk domain name.
I have a feeling that I may not have access to the website because my account plan has changed from a premium to basic free account. At the time I made my website I had a premium account.
Do you think I would be able to regain access if I upgrade my account?
Thanks.

Hello @couponchimp,
Your domain name was registered through Godaddy. If you want to map it to a blog here at WordPress.com you would need domain mapping which does indeed require at least a Personal Plan Upgrade.
What concerns me is that your data(site) should still be here even if you cancelled all upgrades on your account.
Let me add a tag to this to see if a Staff member can help you further,
Best regards! -
Hi couponchimp,
I have a feeling that I may not have access to the website because my account plan has changed from a premium to basic free account.
As solybarr mentioned, couponchimp.co.uk was registered through GoDaddy so you would have needed a domain mapping upgrade to connect it to a site here on WordPress.com.
No upgrades have been purchased by the account you are logged in to now. What is the name of the account you originally used to purchase a plan? If you let me know, I’ll see what I can find.
Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your replies. I purchased the plan on this account I am currently on. username: couponchimp

Hi couponchimp,
I purchased the plan on this account I am currently on
If the plan was purchased through your couponchimp account, there would be a receipt in your Billing History:
https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing
However, no purchases have been made through your account. Do you have email receipt for the plan? If so, please don’t post any transaction details here as these forums are public. I can contact you by email for more information.

All WordPress.com sites include a default address (example.wordpress.com). When a custom domain is cancelled, the site will revert back to this address instead.
It sounds like you may have been using the domain for a self hosted WordPress.org site instead. The differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org are explained here in more detail:
