How do I register a domain I already own?

I can’t seem to register a domain I own to my blog. I select “Add a domain you already own” from the add domain menu in the store. But when I search for my domain, it says it is available which shouldn’t be the case since I have reserved it. Then I am allowed to proceed as though I were registering a new domain through WordPress.com.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades.
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
As you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Thanks for the quick response. Turns our the domain, which was purchased by someone else in Rotary, was not exactly as I thought it to be. Everything worked as described in the support forums once I had the right domain.
