How do i remove a contributor on my blog?
-
Hello everyone, i have a serious question in regards to my blog here. Ok when i originally started my blog i appointed another to help with post, edits and maintaining it, however me abd this person has since parted ways. I no longer want to share my blog with nor want them to have any log-in access, approval/deying, commenting…ect. It was me that opened the WordPress acvount, designed the blog, creared the majority of the posts, added all the links and data, servup the emsil accounts. How do i remove said person permanently?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @webmistress27, are you referring to the site you linked? If so, when you created the site were you logged into a different account? You aren’t listed as the site creator/owner, at least not under this username.
If you did use a different account to create the site, just log out and log in as that user, then we’ll help you sort things out from there.
-
No i signed up/logged in under the account i have linked. It shows me as logged in right now. This is the only WordPress account i operate.
-
UPDATE: i went to manage site tab, and it shows me and the person im trying to have removed from my blog. I tried to delete him/make changes….ect however i keep fetting an error and the changes do not save. I created the blog, registered everything but did give access to another person who is listed as a administrator too. I am no longer in communication with said individual, have not been in several years, nor has he posted on my blog. I would like that person removed permanently. The blog linked belongs to me.

Hi there,
Although you are an admin on the site, the account you are contacting us from is not the owner/creator of the site – the other username under the manage site tab is the owner. The only reasons you would have trouble removing administrators is if you are not an administrator yourself or if the administrator you’re trying to remove is the owner of the account. In this case, it is the latter reason and the owner will need to transfer ownership of the blog over to you, which will automatically remove them as a user of the site.
You can find more information on user roles here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I should’ve titled this post “How in the hell do i remove someone from my blog permanently” because “contributor” is the wrong title for the person im trying to remove, basically i set up the blog, registered everything, created 90% of its posts and content.
Yes i orginally originally didn’t know what the hell i was doing so i entrusted a person to “assist” me in managing/operating the blog. The owner has been switched apparently, unbeknownst to me and i simply want to know what are my options on having the other person removed/deleted??
I have read the info provided on the link to the most recent reply, but i still am a little confused on what to do?
Stuff happens, roles change and mistakes are made, there has to be a simple solution to fixing this.

That sounds super frustrating. Let’s see what options are there.

The site owner can’t be removed from the site so, the best thing you can do is transfer the ownership of the site to your account. This must be done from the current owner’s account so, you’ll need to work with the other user on that. Have a look here at what’s the process like:
-
Super frustrating is an understatement! I currently do not know where the other individual is or how to contact him, we’ve been out of contact with each other for years and he has not commented, updated, engaged, upgraded or changed anything on my blog in several years.
I do still have our passcodes and log-in details as well as all corresponding email exchanges. However as any of you can imagine I’m sure the info on his end has since been changed. What happens in situations where the other person just cant be reached, is dead, M.I.A, doesnt want to be contacted, cant be contacted…ect?
There has to be some back channels of verification that Wordoress Officials can check to validate my claims.
anybody can do a search or lookover my blog to see who actually owns and operates it.

There are formal processes to report blogs or even in the case of a death. It doesn’t really apply to your circumstance, but this is where you’d get in touch with us: https://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/
I think the best option might be for you to create a site export to save all of your content. We can’t do anything about the current site without hearing from the owner/creator account. As an admin though, you can export the content to give yourself a copy. That content can then be imported on to another site for save keeping. That site doesn’t even have to be live, it can just be a private site on the account.

This is not what you’re asking for, I understand that it’s frustrating.

I forgot to include the account recovery option. If you have any proof of ownership then that can also recover the account in question.
-
Thank you all for the responses, i think I’ll go the Transfer blog route, but will it be able to transfer to “me” aka my webmistress27 name or do i need to open a another WordPress account?
-
To transfer ownership of the site, follow the guide at https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
You’ll need to be logged in as the site’s owner to initiate the transfer.

Its me again, this time I am logged in under the other account, I tried to do the Blog Transfer, however I do not have access to the email that is listed in my account, so I changed the email that is listed just a few moments ago, however the that email on Google suites (it once was something else a few years ago) only can send outgoing mail, I cant receive any incoming emails to either address that ends in @swaggtalk100.net
this is just one hot mess smh
-
It looks like you successfully managed to transfer ownership of the site to the webmistress27 account, and swaggtalk100 is no longer a user on the site.
Let us know if you still need help with anything else here.
-
Yes! As of yesterday i was able to transfer it over to my main account, so sorry for all the confusion. I started the blogged but entrusted another to “assist” in upkeep and running it. He fell short of that, then so did it, but i started to see potential in it and decided to save it. Apparently i had a few fail safes in place just in case the unthinkable happened.
Thank you all so very much for your help
