Hello!
If I understand you correctly, you are seeking to remove a link that are a part of images?
If that is correct, are you able to find the code in the text editor rather than the visual editor?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/To access the text editor make sure you go through the dashboard.

Hi, thanks for replying. The code doesnt appear in either the visual or the text editor so I’m assuming I have somehow set this as part of some general page attribute! The image itself is no longer there but I have a box remaining on every page below the heading and above the content.

I check several of your pages. Didn’t see any “boxes” below the header and above the content.

Hm.
Can you confirm you only see this box if you access it through the Dashboard–Pages–>Select the Page in Question or
Dashboard–Post–>Select the Post in QuestionCan you describe what kind of box it is? You can take a screenshot by following the instructions here: http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/
and using an image capture here: http://pasteboard.co/I also feel it may have something to do with screen options
http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/If you change the attributes of the screen options does it make the box disappear?

@59silverdesign
Please try clearing your browser cache to eliminate the possibility that you are seeing an old cached copy. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cacheIf that does not clear up the issue that you can see and we cannot see then we need a screenshot to help. You can post screenshots and share them with Staff. You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots. Or you can use the WordPress.com guide I linked to and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

Thanks all, I am seeing the unopenable image box whenever I view my website – here is the screenshot http://snag.gy/XhRQc.jpg
Have cleared browsing data
Could it be something to do with a featured image? I had (or thought I had) deleted one.

Possibly a browser issue. Are you using an updated browser? I believe Firefox is still the best browser for WordPress.com. The latest one is 33.1.1.

Sorry. I forgot to save the crop of that screen shot. Here it is cropped: http://snag.gy/SL4er.jpg.

Have tried clearing browser cache and tried opening on different pc – problem is still there. Managed to right click on it and Inspect Element – this is screen shot http://snag.gy/Mqo7Z.jpg – can I just delete from the line above the highlighted image source line down to the next <a/>?

Hello!
I am not sure if you resolved this but I am running Firefox 33 on a MAC and I am not seeing the image.

Hi again, thanks for ongoing help – its bizarre – I have cleared browser logged out, shut down, left house :) and its still there…..

Resolved it! Added a new header image and then deleted it. It seemed to be replacing an image it couldnt find, and once I deleted the replacement both that and the empty image box disappeared.
