How do I remove Archive, search bar, ect on bottom of every mobile page?
-
My website (Roxannethornburg.com) has an issue on mobile only, where at the bottom of every page has a search bar, archive list, recent posts, and category list. It’s not the widgets/footers, I checked a million times. It only shows up on mobile, and it doesn’t show up in either the WP editor nor the elementor editor for the mobile sight at all.
Just magic-ed into existance, no widget issues, and no evidence of it existing in the editors whatsoever. Any help (including CSS suggestions) would be appreciated.
I tried the following, but it didn’t work. (note, im awful as CSS, im just tryin my best)
@media only screen and (max-width: 768px) { .archive-title, .archive-content { display: none; } } -
Hi,
Those are widgets, because the same four widgets are clearly visible in the right sidebar widget area when the site is viewed on my desktop monitor. It’s normal for widgets to relocate from a sidebar when viewed on large screens to the bottom of a page when viewed on the smaller screens of mobile devices.
To hide them on mobile devices might be possible with CSS, but that’s out of my realm. I’ve called for staff attention to the topic, in the hope that they might be able to assist you in resolving the issue, either by providing code that will hide the widgets on mobile, or another fix.

Okay, this is gonna sound insane. So that is not the view I see on my ‘admin-mode’ (for lack of better words?) desktop version, but I do see what you see on an incognito tab.
Example- what I see when logged in as admin (the correct layout)

And this is what I see in an incognito tab

So, as you can see in the first image, I do have 3 Widgets. Image, and two buttons. That is what I intend to be there for the desktop site, and nothing for the mobile.
And yet, it’s showing this archive tab thing for both? that archive tab doesn’t exist in my appearance > widgets tab, nor in my customize > widgets tab. The only widgets in my dashboard are the ones I want viewable (The ones in the first image)
As a clarity recap I do not want this archive widget on ANY page or version of my website at all. The only widgets I want are the image, button, button shown in image 1, and I only want that visible on the desktop site. not mobile.
So uhhh… any thoughts? I am absolutely stumped by this.

Half-fixed! The issue with the archive-tabs appearing on the desktop site is fixed (at least on my end it seems so, please do let me know if that’s not the case), I just needed to clear the cache and that seemed to clear that up. So my desktop is archive-tab free! yay!
But my mobile site still has it, so if anyone knows how to swat that mf away, help is appreciated!

And it keeps getting weirder!
So, my proper (Image, button, button) widgets are working on the desktop site now, EXCEPT for the ‘about me’ page which is only showing the stupid archive tab. in place of the correct widgets.
so uh, yeah. Again, any recommendations are appreciated.

Fixed. again. more cache problems.
But the OG problem of archives showing up on my mobile site despite not existing in my dashboard still stands.
Sorry for the update-spam, fixin’ and complainin’ real-time.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Presently I see the three widgets that you want to display (image, button, button) on every page linked to in your menu, EXCEPT the homepage, which is still displaying the Search, Archive List, Recent Posts, and Categories widgets.
I think staff would be more able than I to provide the most appropriate advice and/or assistance regarding this issue, but I’m guessing that your having responded after I added the “modlook” tag to call for staff attention may have removed the topic from the modlook list. If you’d like staff to respond, then please add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar, and wait for staff to respond.
For now, I’ll propose a couple of possible factors that might, in combination, explain the strange widget behavior that you’re encountering. 1.) The mystery widgets, which (if I understand you correctly) are not present in the sidebar widget area editors at Appearance > Widgets or at Appearance > Customize > Widgets, and were never added by you, may be default widgets that the theme designers have assigned to display when no other widgets are assigned to display in a particular widget area.
2.) If you’ve inadvertently added visibility settings to the image and button widgets that cause them to be hidden on the home or front page, then that would ordinarily leave the widget area empty on the homepage, but might cause the widget area to be populated by a set of default widgets if the theme is designed to behave that way. Are there any limiting conditions set in the visibility settings of the widgets?

Oh, I forgot to say that you might try contacting the creators of the theme to ask about the issue, or perhaps inquire at the WordPress.org forums.
