How do I remove categories from the category cloud?

  I can’t remove a category from my category cloud, and I can’t delete the category, either. The cloud shows one post within the category, but the link goes to a page that is not found.

  I’ve tried removing the category from the list of categories, but cannot. Any suggestions?

  Hi there,

  The category is just a period. However, in my list of categories, it doesn’t have a box next to it, so I can’t delete it.

  There was one post that used that category, but when I tried to list it (by clicking on the 1 under “posts”) it listed all of my posts.

  I seem to have found the post that used it, changed the category, and now it no longer shows up in my category cloud. But it’s still a category that I can’t delete. I’ll just make sure to not assign any posts to it.

  Hi,

  I’ve removed the category for you. That category was set as the default category in your Settings->Writing page, which made it not eligible for deletion. I changed your default category and deleted it for you.
