how do I remove myself from the administrators list of a WP blog?

Dear community members,
A month ago I created a website for an organization that I work for. Since I’m leaving this job, I would like to transfer the administrative rights to a different user. I have created a new user, sent him an invitation to become an administrator, accepted it, and tried to remove myself from the admins list, but I doesn’t let me do that.
Please help me solve this problem.
