How do I remove the 'footer' of the theme?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Good evening contributors! I’m fairly new to WordPress so excuse the silly question(s)

    If you scroll to the bottom of the home page you’ll see a contact me block and then there’s the footer ‘Dallas Miller’ and the ‘powered by wordpress’ tag. I purchased the business account for wordpress to remove that option. Any help is very much appreciated.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

    You can remove the footer attribution from My Site ->Design ->Customize ->Site Identity. You’ll find the footer credit options at the bottom of that panel. You don’t need to use CSS to make this change.

    Also note that your business plan gives you access to 24/7 live chat and direct email support. You can reach those at any time by clicking the Help icon that appears bottom-right on all the My Sites pages, or else via the direct link at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

    Hello,

    To remove your Footer Credit, Go to My Site(s) Select the site you want to editDesignCustomize → Site Identity. In the Site Identity section, look for the Footer Credit menu. Choose the option “Hide” — the Customizer will let you preview how each one looks on your site — and select Save & Publish to make the update.

    Hi!

    That worked perfectly for the wordpress credit. But I still see the ‘white space’ with my site’s title and a ‘share this’ button. I’m looking to remove everything from below the contact block so the last thing the user sees on the page is a dark grey black with contact information.

    Thanks again for your support <3

  • Ok. That looks like it’s a couple of thing:

    – Can you turn off sharing for that page? Edit it, and under the Jetpack icon you’ll find sharing. Uncheck that and publish changes.

    – Right now you’ve got a footer. Do you want to get rid of that, or do you want it dark grey so it blends right in?

    – You’ll need to get rid of some padding from the bottom of the page. Try this:

    .page .site-content {
        padding-bottom: 0px !important;
    }

    If you only want that on the front page, you can get more specific with the CSS. If you keep it as-is, please be sure it works well throughout the site.
