You can accomplish this with CSS. However, the WordPress.com Premium Plan is required to utilize CSS on a site.
WordPress.com Premium includes the following upgrades:
– Domain Name & Mapping
– Space Upgrade
– No Ads
– Custom Design
– VideoPressYou can read more about each feature here:
If you decide to purchase the Upgrade and need assistance with the CSS, please let me know, and I will be happy to assist you.

I transferred the custom design upgrade from another blog to this one…
1) i also hid the message about the premium upgrade, now the css menu does not show up in customize mode. how do i get it to display?
2) how do i hide the posted by links?
-
You can use the following CSS to hide the author name:
/* Remove author name from posts */ .post-date .byline { display: none; }I addressed the issue with CSS in the Customizer. You should be able to access that feature now.
If you have additional customization questions, please try posting to our CSS Customization forum:

Thank you very much!
One more thing… can you give me the css to remove the date as well? I have decided that i don’t have much use for that either!
