I would like to delete the search box on my blog

That search box appeared because you deleted the placeholder Hello World post. The result was a 404 (page not found) error message http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ but as soon as you publish a post, not a page it will disappear. http://http//en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
