How do I rename my blog?
-
I want to rename my blog but keep the current content etc.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there.
You can change the title of your blog (i.e. what appears on the front page when you view the blog, under Settings ->General in the WP-admin dashboard, or if you are on the My Sites page just select Settings.
This only changes the Title that appears, not the blog address.
If you’d like to change the blog address, then have a look at this and see if it answers your question:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/Hope it helps!
-
Thanks for this. It is what I was looking for but first I have to purchase the site redirect.
-
Okay @supportingtall.
In case you need it, have a look at this information on site redirect for your blog:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/Hope that does the trick!!

Bloggers who posts here expect and deserve correct answers that they can rely 100% on and they want them as quickly as possible. You do not appear to have the required answers. Every time you post anything into any thread that does not provide s specific and correct answer to the question posed you fail the blogger who asked the question, waste their time, and the fact you posted moves the timestamp further forward, which means it takes them longer to get the help they need. Not only that but experienced Volunteers then have to waste their time by tailgating you into every thread to make sure that those who post questions get the answers they deserve.My advice is:
Learn how to blog yourself on your own blog please. Unless or until you are skilled you have nothing to offer – recognize that.Learn what’s in the support docs and how to search them.
Learn how to use tag search to locate correct answers left by Staff and experienced Volunteers in earlier threads on the same subject.
And, unless or until you have 100% correct answers do the blogger who posted threads the service of not posting at all.

@theothershare
It’s extremely important to convey the “whole” impact of changing any blog address to those who want to do that. Many bloggers don’t know that doing so will produce 404’s in the SERPs. Many also don’t get the fact that changing a blog address is a permanent and irreversible act.@supportingtall
If your blog is not new and you have lots of content that has been indexed by search engines then you are right on the money when you refer to a site redirect.
site: supportingtall.wordpress.comWithout purchasing one, if you change the blog address then every link in the SERPs (search engine page results) and everywhere else it appears it appears on the internet will be broken.

@offerheoffer
Your spamming to get others to click your username link to a commercial site has been reported to Terms of Service Staff. -
@timethief – theothershare has actually been quite helpful in other tickets. I would appreciate it if you would remove this line from the predef you use in these responses:
And, unless or until you have 100% correct answers do the blogger who posted threads the service of not posting at all.
This creates a negative atmosphere where users won’t help each other for fear of being wrong. If incorrect information is given, by all means step in and help point people in the right direction, but do not discourage other users from participating in the forums.

@offerheoffer is NOT helpful It is a spammer!
I was not referring to @theothershare as we are cool.

I refuse to educate any other commercial spammers who post here to get click backs to their commercial sites.
This creates a negative atmosphere where users won’t help each other for fear of being wrong. If incorrect information is given, by all means step in and help point people in the right direction, but do not discourage other users from participating in the forums.
In a situation like this one, where there seems to be an insufficient number of support Staff are available to answer support questions promptly, as we have bloggers waiting for days to get support after their threads have been tagged for Staff attention, I would name that as the top creator of a negative atmosphere here.
Setting aside the spammers I happen to believe the fear of posting an incorrect answer is a driver that drives us wannbe Volunteers and wannbe Staff to actually search support docs and do forum tag searches prior to posting any comment at all into any support thread.
I have quit tailgaiting every new Volunteers and Staff wannbes into threads and correcting their incorrect answers. From here on I will simply tag threads and Staff can do the educating as after all they get paid and I don’t.

Ahha. I misread. Thanks for clarifying. :)
I would still appreciate you removing the sentence I highlighted above. We can chat further about this privately if you’d like; I’d rather not highjack this thread.

@shawnajroberts
No chatting required. I’ll modify and sanitize my similar responses somewhat and try to think of it as writing exercise when I do, because my position will on this not change.If what I feel inclined to post into any support thread does not directly answer the question posed in the thread, I consider doing the blogger who posted the thread the favor of not posting at all. By subscribing to the thread I then turn lurking and into a valuable learning experience.
