How do i renew my expired domain

  The domain is in redemption period, is it possible to renew it?
  Domainname is “rotersternhalle.de”.
  When i try to register it again it says “This domain can’t be registrated on WordPress.com” and there is no entry in “my domains” menu, so i cant do anything there either.
  Pls give advice.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I don’t think rotersternhalle.de was registered here (don’t think .de can be registered here) – but they can be domain mapped to a blog here

  Do you remember who your original registrar was? I tried a whois and could not find the registrar

  Please note that Registration of a domain name is not the same as Domain Mapping – the domain mapping would have been purchased from WordPress.COM

  The blog was created some years ago by someone else, i actually dont know if it had domain mapping, but there are no purchases made from this blog.
  For a domain mapping there should have been a purchase/payment.
  Because of this i assumed it was registrated on WordPress.

  Like you said there is no option to register a “.de” domain, has this changed recently?

  It is also possible that you had a WordPress.ORG software install blog hosted on another host (they look almost exactly the same)

  No, WordPress.org was not involved.
  When i took over the blog it was accessable via rotersternhalle.de.
  We thought about migrating to wordpress.org but abandoned the idea because of the need of an own server.

  WordPress.ORG is the keeper of the WordPress software – they do not host and the only time most people have anything to do with WordPress.ORG is if they have a technical support question – so you could have used the WordPress.ORG software on another host and not known about it

  The blog was always linked with this wordpress.com account here im writing with in the moment.
  It is definitely a wordpress.com blog : rshalle.wordpress.com

  I see two possibilities :
  1. my people just forgot to tell me, they had a domain registered somewhere else and had domain mapping( unlikely because no payments were made with this account or domain mapping was free at this time)

  2. wordpress.com at an earlier point allowed registration of .de domains and ended support for that.

  If I missed something or took wrong conclusions please correct me :)
  I hope that a mod can look this information up.

  The site rshalle.wordpress.com does not have a custom domain mapped to it.

  Meanwhile, the domain rotersternhalle.de was not registered through WordPress.com, and is not pointing to rshalle.wordpress.com or any other site on WordPress.com. WHOIS searches are not supplying the registrar, just the redemption (expired) status.

  According to http://www.denic.de/webwhois/

  The domain “rotersternhalle.de” was deleted on 10.07.2014 and is currently in a cooling-off phase (Redemption Grace Period – RGP).

  You may need to contact a registrar that handles .de registrations for further assistance.
