How do I repair page links?

  • Unknown's avatar

Two of the 3 pages on my blog don’t work. I’ve tested them with 2 different computers and 2 iPads. Clicking on “Home” or “About Us” does not bring up either of those pages. Clicking on the 3rd page, “Contact”, does bring up that one…
How can the pages be repaired??

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there!

You’ve not assigned the front page of your site. Additionally, you’ve opted for your blog posts to appear on the About page. You can easily adjust this, so no worries!

Here are the instructions on properly setting up your Home and About pages:

    Set the Homepage

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Thanks for your quick response! I’m really confused now… Perhaps obviously, I had a friend help me set up the blog… But… the way it used to work is that when someone logged on, the latest post came up- but when one clicked the “About Us” button in that posting, the “About Us” page would come up. And when one clicked the “Home” button, the front page (first page of the original posting) would come up. Both worked just like the “Contact” button works now… Now, neither button works… or… both buttons simply reload the current posting… either way, I don’t understand from the instructions how to fix that…

    Hey there,

I know the setup can get confusing! The instructions I had mentioned will work in fixing the links for your buttons.

I’ll step you through the process.

    1. Click the link below:
      https://whynotww.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwhynotww.wordpress.com%2F
    2. In the right hand menu, click Front.
    3. Where you see “Front page displays,” you will change the setting from “Static page” to “Your latest posts.”
    4. Click Save.

That will do the trick. Now, your Home page will display all your posts, and your About page will display the content you saved.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

Thanks, thatrobyn!! It worked like a charm!!
Now, one more question if you don’t mind… If I create a static “Home” page and assign it as the “Front Page”, will the “About” button still work on the individual postings? I’d really like the blog to open on a welcome (home) page, but I would also like readers of individual postings to be able to use the About (& Contact) buttons… I REALLY appreciate your help!

Thanks, thatrobyn!! It worked like a charm!!

Fabulous! Glad to hear it :)

Regarding your question about the menu links:

If I create a static “Home” page and assign it as the “Front Page”, will the “About” button still work on the individual postings? I’d really like the blog to open on a welcome (home) page, but I would also like readers of individual postings to be able to use the About (& Contact) buttons…

My suggestion is to add a new page called Blog or Posts or Musings…something along those lines. Don’t add any text to that page. Then, when you make Home your static front page, you can make Blog (or whatever you call it) your posts page.

After you do this, you will have four menu items:

Home (static content…some sort of welcome message)
    About (your image and bio)
    Blog (all your posts)
    Contact (obviously…your contact info!)

These 4 menu items will work on every page in your site. No matter where you visitor is, he/she can click through to another page.

Give it a try! Let me know how it goes. Thanks again.
