How do I report a hacker?
-
yesterday a person by the name of eva russo liked one of my blog post. I pulled up her profile on my cell from work and said no profile existed on wordpress. There was a link on her ‘like’ post which activated and hacked into my [redacted] email addy which at 8:29 monday nite , sent that same link and made it appear it came from me to everyone in my yahoo addy list.
So I get off work, change all my passwords and then do the recent activity search for that yahoo addy. At 8:29 last nite, the person who did this , did so from somewhere in the ukraine. This is very upsetting and I hope this is not a regular problem here, but I did want to report it.

Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs
1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.
2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/
3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/
4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.
6. Set up two step authentication http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/
Then read this please knowing that blogs don’t get hacked when security protocols are followed. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/
P.S. I flagged this for Staff follow-up.

Hi tonekinchloe,
I’m very sorry to hear this, and I’m glad you reported it. It sounds like their profile redirected you to a phishing link, which is very uncool.
I’d very much like to look into this further, but I wasn’t able to find this person on any of your recent posts. Can you link me to the post with the Like on it, or can you post any other information about the user (did you happen to go to their Gravatar, and is that in your history?) or anything else that could assist me in tracking them down?
If you don’t feel comfortable posting this information publicly, you can send us an email with the details. If you do so, it would be helpful to include a link to this support thread in that email so we can keep all of this info together.
Thanks!
