How do I restore multiline titles from RSS feeds coming into my WordPress blog?
-
Titles from RSS feeds are being truncated to one line long. They used to be multi-line. How can I fix this so the multi-line titles display? Thanks.

Hi there – I’m not seeing what you mean. I looked a few of your longer post titles but the RSS feed is displaying them in full in a feed reader, as you can see here with the longest post title:

This is with the iGoogle feed reader.
Could you please let me know which feed reader you’re using?
Would it be possible to upload a screenshot of what you see there to help in troubleshooting?
Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot, if you’re not sure: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
You can upload the screenshot in your Media Library so I can see it. Thanks.

Thanks for looking into it. I agree the full title is visible within the body of the posting, but in the title, only the first line (about 45 characters long) gets displayed. This wasn’t always so. I am attaching two screen captures from the blog. The first shows the current top of the blog, with the truncated title (only showing first line), and a capture from an older post showing a full title.
I actually had a message about the problem with titles from a reader, so I think others get the same problem when looking at the blog on my wordpress site.
I have uploaded the two screenshots to my media library.
Again, thanks!

Hi there – I looked in your media library but am not seeing the screenshots there:

Would you mind posting a link so I can have a look?
I also think I misunderstood your original question, but hopefully it’ll be clearer once I see the screenshots. :-)

Look in the media library for “Jerome Katz’s Entrepreneurship Blog”. You’re looking in my other wordpress blog.

Thanks, I’ve found the screenshots.
I see what you mean with the display of your post titles. It’s unrelated to the RSS feed from what I can see, since those are just titles coming from your posts, not from an RSS feed.
I will investigate and keep you posted.

The cut-off titles appear to be the titles set in the title field for each post.
For example:
Title: From jeromekatz: Crowdfunding Industry O
https://jeromekatz.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=67&action=editTitle: From jeromekatz: http://sba.gov/ – New b
https://jeromekatz.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=65&action=editCould you explain how exactly you’re making those posts so I can troubleshoot further? Thanks.

These start as bookmarks saved in Delicious, then fed as an RSS to Hootsuite, which in turn routes it to Twitter (@jeromekatz) and WordPress. The full feed is evident in the Twitter posting and in the text of the WordPress posting, but the title in the WordPress posting is truncated. So it seems to be something specific to WordPress, when it is parsing the RSS feed from Hootsuite.
Thanks,

Took a look at hootsuite, and the help section, but did not find a way to show the feed. Sorry. Jerry

Thanks for letting me know. Without being able to see the feed being generated by Hootsuite, I won’t be able to troubleshoot what may be going wrong. You may want to contact their support team to see if they would be able to help. If you find out any new information, let me know and I’ll be glad to take another look.
