How do I restore my post?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hiya,

Earlier today, I was half way through writing a blog post when my laptop turned itself off. Usually, when this has happened in the past, WordPress comes up with a restore button in the new post tab, which restores everything I had written. However, it didn’t do it this time. It hasn’t saved in drafts so am worried I have lost this post permanently. Is there anything I can do to restore it?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi there,

I checked your blog and I also didn’t find any saved drafts there. Did you click the “Save” button at any time while you were writing the post?

Until you hit that “Save” button (or publish the post) the draft isn’t saved on our end. Instead, it’s saved in your browser’s local storage. When you see that restore button, it means there’s something saved in that local storage and it can be recovered or restored from there.

Unfortunately, if you don’t see the draft appear in the post editor or see that restore button there, and you didn’t hit the “Save” button while writing the draft, there isn’t any other way to recover it. I’m sorry I don’t have better news for you about that. If you have any questions, please let me know!
