How do I return to default colors in a theme, when I've changed them a fair bit
-
I want to strip my theme of ALL colors so that I can revert to default and then start working on colors afresh.
I have not the faintest idea how to do that. It doesn’t appear to be via CSS; as removing every new CSS code I’ve applied does absolutely nothing to change the colors – just changes the formatting back to default. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
In order to return to default colors, click Appearance → Customize → Colors in your site’s Dashboard.
Then click the Default button in the upper right-hand side of your customization menu.
Save your changes.
That should do the trick! Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

Goodness, Robyn ! – do you think I wouldn’t have done that first of all ?
It had no effect whatsoever.

As I said, I changed colors in CSS; but even removing those new bits of code doesn’t change them back. -
Hi there!
To revert back to the theme’s default colors, please do the following, in order:
Go to Appearance → Customize.
1. Click Colors. Then, click Default.
2. Now, click CSS. Delete all the color-related CSS items that you’ve added. Or, as an experiment, you can cut out all of the CSS revisions you’ve made, and paste in a document and save it, so you always have a record of it.
3. Click Save to set all your changes so far.
4. Click Appearance → Theme Options. Select one of the Theme’s default colors.
5. Click to Save Changes.
That should do it. Let me know how that works out for you. You can always add back bits of CSS code as you like, of course.
Best of luck!

I’ve done all that.
It had no effect whatsoever.
Never mind: I’ve given up on this.
Thank-you. -
Hey there,
Would you like me to do it for you? I’m happy to, if you give me permission.
Please make sure you’ve saved your CSS, if you’d like me to move forward, however!
Thanks.

And one more thing — if you’d like me to run through the checklist for you, just let me know (red, orange, green, or blue) which default color you’d like. Thanks!

Thanks, Robyn – you are very kind to offer, especially when you must want to throttle me (as most Support people do, alas !).
But I think what I’ve managed to do with the sidebar widgets’ text looks OK, now: at least they all seem to be the same color that I picked with my brilliant little eye-dropper (“Color Cop”).
I was going to tell you this anyway, and now I have !
A long road, but destination reached in the end without the need to strip out everything.
MANY THANKS ! -
Ha! I don’t want to throttle you at all! Not to sound like a goof, but I just want you happy. So, if you’ve figured out a solution, I’m pleased as punch.
Let me know if I can help with anything in the future. All the best :)
