How do I reverse back to WordPress?

    Hello,

May I be assisted with my concern?

First, to set the context of where I am at, I’m a newbie and I enrolled on a step-by-step course on how to setup an ecommerce site. I also wanted to setup a direct booking website and took it upon myself to do things a bit on my own, and so this is probably why I’m in this dilemma.

With my domain name purchased from Namecheap, and InMotion as my hosting, I signed up with WordPress using (email visible only to moderators and staff) as my email and changed it to kayalifestyle.ph prior starting the website building.

I was able to setup my WordPress site to a point where I needed something to setup my site to make it look and function as a direct booking site. After researching for sometime, I decided to use OwnerRez. I was was setting up my website (https://kayalifestlye.ph) when I decided to integrate some features of OwnerRez to my site. I followed these instructions, specifically, #3 of CONFIGURATION (https://www.ownerreservations.com/support/articles/hosted-going-live).

I initially reached out to Namecheap and requested them for assistance. They said that it should be with InMotion that I should request for assistance from, which I did. After the changes were made, I didn’t expect that I would be completely working with OwnerRez’s platform. When I reached out to InMotion about my concern, that I want to use WordPress as my platform. They told me that hosting has been transferred to OwnerRez and that I should reach out to them instead. When I reached out to OwnerRez about my concern, I was instructed to contact WordPress instead. I noticed that I couldn’t sign in using my email and username (kayalifestyle.ph) with WordPress. Attached are screenshots to provide more details about my concern.

So generally, I wish to use WordPress again as my platform (instead of OwnerRez) with building my site, and use the widgets of OwnerRez. May I be assisted in this?

Looking forward to your favorable response.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

It looks like your site is using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but is hosted with another webhost.

We’re only able to provide support for WordPress websites that are hosted by us here at WordPress.com. For help with a WordPress site hosted elsewhere you’ll need to ask over at the WordPress.org forums:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Depending on the level of support that is included with your hosting plan, your webhost’s support team may also be able to assist.

If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the open-source WordPress software you can read this article:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

  • However…

Allow me to use this opportunity to say that if you WERE hosted here at WordPress.com, you would have access to 24/7 WordPress specific assistance from a world-class support team and we could likely get this sorted out for you.

We have a guide to help move your site to WordPress.com here and our support team can also assist:

Please let us know if you have any questions about WordPress.com, our plans, or our features.

    Hello Rootjosh,

I am very sure that that I didn’t use open-source WordPress software because the course that I am taking had us use wordpress.com.

I started having troubles login in (or I think my login details got lost) when I requested InMotion to make the changes I requested. If this is the case, may I be assisted to have my WordPress account back?

I am including some of my communications with OwnerRez for your referrence.

I had my DNS updated yesterday and I couldn’t login my WordPress account today. I messaged my hosting and this is what I got from them >> Now, for kayalifestyle.ph (domain name), it is pointing to another server and I won’t be able to get you to the WordPress admin because the site is no longer hosted here.

Can I be assisted in this please? Thanks!

Your domain name is now pointed at your OwnerRez Hosted Website:

Welcome to Villa Ciestra the Best Vacation Resort in Punta Cana

WordPress is no longer involved, and you do not need any WordPress site or hosting anymore.

If you choose to use a WordPress site, then, you don’t need the OwnerRez Hosted Website.

WordPress will need to assist with resetting your domain to the default DNS settings, at that point your original website content will be restored. You have the availability to use free OwnerRez Widgets to include your availability calendar and Booking/Inquiry engine on your website and then you can turn off the Hosted Website feature.

If you choose to go a bit further with customization of your site, you can utilize the WordPress Plugin which requires keeping Hosted Website feature active.
    Please keep me posted. Thanks!

  • Hi there,

To clarify, Inmotion is (was) hosting your WordPress site, not us here at WordPress.com, so they would be the ones to assist you with your site. Since the site was never hosted with us, we do not have access to your site or its contents. However, as Inmotion indicated, if you moved your site to OwnerRez, you would have to touch base with them regarding your current site.

I have never heard of OwnerRez, but based on the correspondence you provided, it does not appear they host WordPress sites. However, I checked, and they have a WordPress plugin that you can install if you want to remain on the WordPress platform. That way you have the best of both worlds.

    https://www.ownerreservations.com/support/articles/wordpress-plugin-setup-connecting

Therefore, as my colleague staff-ozmodiar mentioned, you can migrate your site over to WordPress.com and we’d be happy to provide support and help you get set up. Otherwise, if you like Inmotion hosting, you can migrate your site back to them and then install the OwnerRez plugin so that you have access to their features.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.
