How do I reverse the order of posts so that oldest post shows first?

  You’re right about switching up the sorting order for reading sometimes. I think you should have a look at the support documents that talk about structuring your site like a book and Show your Posts in Chronological Order.

  The latter link might be particularly interesting to you. I could see using something like, http://example.wordpress.com/category/my-first-story/?order=asc, in a menu link to get readers to read a specific story category, starting with the oldest post.
