How do I see the isp address of visitors to my blog?
-
That’s it really, this is the first WP blog I’ve had. On blogsome I can see the isp’s when the stats consolidate overnight, but I can’t find anywhere that shows them for my WP blog? Can I view them?
I find it useful to know who is reading…
Thanks,
SarahThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

IP addresses have little meaning anymore since they are not unique. An ISP may assign the same IP address to tens or even hundreds of users they are serving, and even the location cannot be tied down most of the time. One time they will say I’m in Cheyenne, WY, the next time Denver, CO, the next time might be Salt Lake City UT, or Boise, ID, and I’m in none of those. In fact the closest I am to any of those is nearly 400 miles.
Sitemeter and StatCounter will give you a little more information though: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/28/can-i-have-a-statcounter-on-my-blog/ . Do realize though that the information cannot be counted on.

Thanks, only just checked this but that solves it perfectly. I have a couple of regular visitors and I know what to look for to tell if they’ve been around – one is on a static isp for example. But the standard wp stats weren’t giving me enough info, I’ve got sitemeter on now and will see what that comes up with.
