How do I set post photos to show in Reader notices instead of featured photo?
-
I do l lot of photo posts and often change the header photo to one related to the theme of the post. When the post is shown on my Reader, the featured photo in the header shows up instead of the post photo. But this doesn’t seem to happen for other blogs. Is there a setting to make the post photo appear instead?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I was looking at your posts in the Reader and I found that it was featuring either your Featured Image or the only image in the post. I am not seeing the header image in the Reader as seen below:
The post: Daily Prompt: Teach Your Children Well is showing the Featured Image:
https://cloudup.com/cEEyLV0fAdWThe post: Travel Theme: Wood is also showing the Featured Image:
https://cloudup.com/cVk33rcqLK3The post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition – Good Dog is showing the image in the post:

I’d be happy to take a look.
Thank you!

Hi, Grace. Thanks for the response. I think I didn’t asked the question correctly. I can establish a header photograph. It will appear on any page and post I do. As an option, I am allowed to select a feature image that is displayed where the header image would be for a particular page or post. I like to do this to add a dash of variety to the look of the posts and pages. If I leave the normal header on a post into which I embed an image, such as the weekly photo challenge, the image in the post show up on Reader. When I do a post with an embedded image and select a featured image, which shows up in the header, then that featured image shows up in the Reader image instead of the embedded image, which was the more specific response to the photo challenge.
For instance, when I first posted the Juxtaposition Good Dog posting, I had selected a featured image that appeared in the heading. It was from the same location but had ducks instead of the dog. That featured image showed as the image in the Reader but the test was about a dog. When I deleted the featured image and reverted back to the normal header image, the dog photo then showed up as the Reader image. Does that make sense?
For the Travel Photo Challenge; Wood, the image I wanted to highlight is the one embedded in the post. But the image I added as a featured image, which is in the header space, is shown as the featured image. It is related to the image I put in the post but it is not the same.
Should I assume that if I change the header image by using a featured image instead that the featured it will always show up as the Reader image?
Thanks for your patience with my long question. :) -
Hi Marie,
I think I understand what you are talking about. Please note that the Featured Image will always be the one that appears in the Reader.
If there is no Featured Image we will pull an image from the post. I hope this helps!

It does. Thanks so much for your response. I guess I am going to have to make sure the featured image is one I want to show in the reader instead of the post image. I bet a couple of the images in my posts were perplexing in the Reader. :)
