How do I set up a non-indexed website section, not accessible from root domain?
-
Hi,
I have a blog set up as a conventional website. http://hawthornmathstutoring.com.au/
I would like to have a section of this website that is not indexed by search engines and can only be accessed by my clients directly clicking on a link that I send them (or typing it directly into a browser).
I would like to set up a separate menu for this section of the website. Something like:
Current clients
– policies
– cancellations
– extra lessons
– etcI do not want a visitor to the main (indexed) section of the site to be able to navigate to this (non-indexed) section.
To do this I created a page and marked it private.
http://hawthornmathstutoring.com.au/current-clients/This has two problems.
(1) The page is only visible to me when I am logged in to wordpress.com
(2) I cannot use this page as a parent page. For example:
http://hawthornmathstutoring.com.au/current-clients/cancellations/Any help would be greatly appreciated.
David.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi David,
This isn’t possible to do within one site at WordPress.com. The indexing settings only apply to an entire site, rather than separate areas.
Due to the needs you’ve mentioned, I actually think it would be best to create a secondary, private site. This can be linked via menu tab, widget, etc from the original site.
If you do this, you can keep the site protected, and hidden from search engine indexing.
Here is information about setting up a private blog:
