how do I set up a parent directory page
-
I’d like to put up a page on my blog called “Academic Research” where I can nest additional posts of that research. I’d like each post to still b separate but I’d like it to be under the parent directory “Academic Research”
What I’m getting at is this: you’d click on “Academic Research” from the main page and then, once on the “Academic Research” page, you’d be able to view a short blurb section about the contents and then a list of the content which you could click through to view the post. Ideally there would be a short blurb which each item, either visible on the page or when hovered over.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
WalterThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

See here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/
Here is more information: http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/We organize our posts by use of categories. To organize your posts, assign categories and sub-categories, create a custom menu and include them in it.
There is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. However, we can create the appearance that we have done that by setting up a custom menu and displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation menu. re: short blurbs
Whether or not just permalinked titles, permalinked titles and excerpts, full posts, or thumbnails are displayed on Categories Pages and Archives pages is theme dependent ie. it’s coded into the template and we cannot edit templates or themes. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/
In the majority of themes, posts on dynamic category or dynamic archive pages show up just as they do on the main posts page in the blog and the number displayed is also the same.

re: category descriptions
Only some theme will display category descriptions which we enter here > Dashboard > Posts > Categories -

You’re welcome. There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.
