Hi Dale,
There isn’t a specific way to setup a voting form via the Android app. Via the site’s dashboard, you have a couple of options depending on exactly what you’re looking for.
If you’re wanting a true poll, you can use the “Add Poll” button on any page or post editor. Details instructions with screenshots can be found at http://en.support.wordpress.com/polls/
Additionally, you can enable Ratings if you want the ongoing collection of data about your posts. More details on that can be found at http://en.support.wordpress.com/ratings/
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi there, thanks for the advice. I’m an Android-only blogger and want to set up a poll for readers to vote for their favourite part so far.
I’ve found a thing called Polldaddy which might work but I’m having trouble getting the actual form to materialise on my blog. It only provides a hyperlink to their site. Make any sense to you at all? -
Howdy,
Which post/page are you trying to add the poll? I can give a look and see if I can determine what’s going on.
Thanks!
-
I set up a new page with a trial version of the poll, posted it under “private” to check it. All I found was the link, which took me to a page saying “you don’t have authority to view this page”. Since deleted the test page and haven’t tried again yet.
-
Howdy,
I added a poll at http://diaryofaninternetnobody.com/example with a password of example . The poll is working on my Android device.
You can copy/paste that code (that appears when you edit that page) into any post or page and it’ll work.
Does that work for you?

Ah, sorry. Deleted that by mistake, didn’t know what it was. Thought it was a dead link. Excuse my technical ineptitude.
-
Still getting “You are forbidden to access this page” messages when using the link I was given to embed from polldaddy.
-
Can you edit the example page that I made? You can copy and paste that code? (It’ll look like [polldaddy poll=12345] )
If you’re creating the poll directly on PollDaddy, on the page that has the code to embed should have a tab for WordPress with that shortcode.
Alternatively, if you can use a regular browser, when editing the page, there is an “Add Poll” button above the text field.
-
Sorry, as I said, I deleted the example page by mistake.
Let me check the WordPress tab. I’ve used a long java script code. -
-
With the shortcode, you can paste it directly in as you would any text content. There’s nothing special required to paste in a short code.
-
-
The shortcode (in the style of [polldaddy poll=123456] is a small bit of code that WordPress.com converts to the longer code needed to embed the poll.
We don’t accept the Javascript option directly since malicious Javascript code could cause a lot of damage to a visitor’s system, so the shortcodes are a way we can allow flexibility while still maintaining a secure platform.
-
I believe you underestimate my stupidity If I post that code into my page, the pool will appear,?
-
Oh no, my apologies for not being more clear!
Yes, if you paste the shortcode (a la [polldaddy poll=123456] ) into a post or page, that particular poll will appear when viewing the page as a visitor.
When editing the page or post, you’ll only see the [polldaddy poll....], but the published page will pull in the poll.
-
Aha! Finally the penny drops. That would explain why I could only see the code on the test page.
Thanks for all your help (and patience with my technological inanities) I’ll give it a go.
By the way, can the poll be renewed after the initial week run?
I need to keep it running for longer than that.
Oh yeah, and another thing (last one, honest) can I use links to posts as the poll options?
ie, A hyperlink to each post that I’m giving as choices for the poll winner -
My understanding is yes to both questions. For the hyperlink, you’ll likely need to type in the html code for that (e.g.
<a href="http://example.wordpress.com/2013/10/16/your-post">title of your post</a>), but I don’t work with Polldaddy.Polldaddy’s support docs can be reached via http://support.polldaddy.com/ or contacted directly at http://polldaddy.com/feedback/
Cheers!
