How do I set up email from namecheap hosted domain?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am not able to receive/send email from my Open X-change server email account that is hosted by Namecheap. This is what I am getting:

This domain name is using third party DNS, please contact your DNS provider to add the following records:
    mail.darkheron.com IN CNAME 0 oxwebmail.registrar-servers.com.
    darkheron.com IN MX 10 oxmail1.registrar-servers.com.
    darkheron.com IN TXT 0 v=spf1 include:ox.registrar-servers.com ~all
    darkheron.com IN MX 10 oxmail2.registrar-servers.com.

I updated the wordpress DNS settings as stated above but still no luck. Please help as this is an urgent matter for me.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Howdy,

I made a couple of tweaks to the DNS entries that you added, the most major was removing the WordPress.com MX record (which, being at equal priority of the other records may be what stopped it from working as expected when you added the new records).

It may take a couple of hours for the changes to be reflective Internet-wide (true for all DNS changes), but the change is already registering in some places, at least: https://www.whatsmydns.net/#MX/darkheron.com

If you have any other questions or need anything else, please let me know. Cheers!
