How do I set up my blog without any suggested pictures recomended and keep the ?

I find setting up a basic blog with my own pictures choices and added text to be challenging on wordpress. I’m not a computer expert, and liked the easy to use format on Blogspot. Since few authors and readers use Blogspot anymore, I have chosen to move to WordPress.

I didn’t expect it to be difficult for a layperson to create a simple blog and add their own pictures. For some reason the template I have chosen, does not want to link up together. I have tried to edit my pages to connect them, but I find it too difficult to make it all pull back together. All of this started when I deleted the suggested pictures and tried to add my own instead. Help, I am so frustrated.

I’d like a simple cover page with my picture and biography. Followed by a scroll down blog page that I may add an image of my choice, followed by text underneath it of a poem or short story. I’d like to have an easy reference side bar that shows easy to click blog months and list of poems and short stories under it. Followed by a simple contact page with my email address and an option for a mailing address and phone number. Lastly I’d like an interactive page for messages and comments.

Would any of this be possible on WordPress?

Hi @mikewilliamspoetry, it sounds like you wish your site to look more like the home page on the demo site. To do this, you will need to create a home page and assign the Home Page Template under Page Options.

On the blog post section, you can either assign a featured tag to posts and those posts will be shown on your main page, or if you do not setup and assign a featured tag to posts, the main page will display your latest 3 posts.

If you haven’t already, I would suggest reading through the Gateway Demo Page, which has information on the theme features and setting up your main page.

Let’s start there and let me know if you have additional questions.
